Among other shocking stories, a 28-year-old man was allegedly burnt to death by his wife at Chak Saidoke village in Fazilka district of Punjab. The victim, identified as one Gursewak Singh suffered severe 75% burning and succumbed to his injuries on May 24, 2020.

However, the accused woman, Sukhmanpreet Kaur alias Veerpal Kaur managed to escape from the spot soon after committing the crime. According to the police, the accused Veerpal Kaur allegedly poured oil on Gursewak Singh and burnt him alive. Although the victim was rushed to the nearest hospital soon after the incident, he died the very next day.

The victim’s family members and other relatives have however demanded quick action against the culprit. They also refused to cremate his body and protested by blocking the Jalalabad-Muktsar Road.

In a written complaint to the concerned police, the deceased’s brother, Gurvinder Singh, has said his brother had married Sukhmanpreet Kaur 10 years ago and the couple has a son and daughter. The couple, according to the family members, had a strained relationship and would indulge in verbal duels on petty domestic issues.
