A third terminal can also be opened at Delhi Airport during fog season.
Regular passenger flights to the country were completely banned in March this year due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. Flights from Terminal-3 commenced on May 25, when flights started again. Terminal-2 has also been opened as the number of flights increased. A spokesperson of Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said that flights can also be started from Terminal-1 if required during the fog season.
Flights can be operated with the help of equipment despite reduced visibility to a limit during fog. During this period, the movement of planes between the runways from the terminal has to be kept even longer. The spokesman said that Terminal-1 can also be opened to ensure timely flights. At present, the movement of aircrafts at Delhi airport is around 50 percent as compared to the earlier Kovid era.
Dial chief executive Videha Kumar Jaipuriar said that social media will be used to give updated information about the timing of flights to passengers during the fog season. The opening of the new ATC tower at the airport will be a boon.
