The lockdown has been extended to 31 January in view of the outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic in Germany.
"We are extending the lockdown until January 31," Chancellor Angela Merkel said in a press conference after meeting with regional governors on Tuesday.
Ms Merkel said that no more than two people from two of the five houses would be allowed to meet during this time.
He said that the rate of infection in the country is high. Citing experts, he said that medical facilities are under pressure and caution has been asked to emerge from the rapidly spreading new pattern.
