Brazil's greatest footballer Pelé has paid homage to Argentine legend footballer Diego Maradona, saying that he will someday kick a football with Maradona in heaven.
80-year-old Pelé said, "The sad news of losing a friend was received." It is sure in heaven that we will kick the ball together. " Maradona was given the FIFA Centenary Award in 2000 and left the great Pelé in second place.
Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, the global football body, expressed deep sorrow over the death of Diego Maradona.
Infantino said, "Today is an incredibly sad day. Our Maradona left us. It felt like our heart stopped beating for a moment. Our silence, our tears, our pain is all that we are feeling right now. "
He said, "We have deep sympathy for his family and friends in this difficult time. Dear Diego, rest in peace. Lots of love."
