President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday extended their greetings on the occasion of Bihar Day.
"Congratulations to everyone, especially the people of Bihar, on Bihar Day! Bihar leads the way in the present apart from its historical heritage. I had the privilege of serving as the Bihar Governor -- a land which has been a witness to the Champaran Satyagraha of Mahatma Gandhi. My best wishes on this occasion," the President wrote on Twitter in Hindi.
The Vice-President, in his message, said that Bihar is known for its rich spiritual history & educational legacy. "The people of Bihar have been contributing greatly to the development of the nation. My best wishes to the people of Bihar for a prosperous future ahead," Mr Naidu said.
Mr Modi too congratulated the people of Bihar. "This state [Bihar], which has a special identity for its glorious past and rich culture, continues to create new dimensions of development," the Prime Minister said.
Bihar was carved out of the state from Bengal on this day in 1912. Since then the state observes and celebrates March 22 as the Bihar Divas.
