Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday enquired about the health of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh who is currently hospitalised at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow.

"Countless people across India are praying for the speedy recovery of Kalyan Singh Ji. Yesterday J P Nadda, CM Yogi Adityanath and others went to the hospital to meet him. I just spoke to his grandson and enquired about his health," the Prime Minister said in a tweet.

According to latest update, the former UP CM is responding well to the treatment and is showing consistent improvement. "Kalyan Singh Ji is hemodynamically stable and his vital parameters are stable," the hospital said today.

In another tweet, Mr Modi recalled his long association and interactions with the 89-year-old Singh.

"I was deeply touched to know that during his conversation with JP Nadda Ji, Kalyan Singh Ji remembered me. I also have many memories of my interactions with Kalyan Singh Ji. Several of those memories came back to life. Talking to him has always been a learning experience," Mr Modi wrote.
