PM's Discussion with Chief Ministers: Except two states, all others suggested to remove lockdown

Amid the Corona crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again discussed the lockdown with the Chief Ministers through video conferencing. During this time, all states except Himachal and Meghalaya advised ending the lockdown. This is the third video conferencing with his chief ministers during the lockdown ongoing due to the transition. Three issues have been discussed in the meeting. One, the current status of corona infection in the states and efforts being made to prevent it. The feedback of the states on the implementation of the exemptions provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs from the second of April 20 and the strategy after the third, May 3.

Since March 22, since the beginning of the Corona crisis in the country, Prime Minister Modi has met four times with the Chief Ministers of the states through video conferencing. The meeting was attended by Home Minister Amit Shah and Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan besides senior officials of the Prime Minister's Office and other related ministries. Apart from this, Chief Ministers of various states including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Kerala Chief Minister P. Vijayan also attended the meeting. 

Today's video conferencing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Coronavirus, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also attended. At the same time, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present in this discussion. However, during this time, their issues were also put on behalf of the states. Among these, the demand for an economic package is prominent.

During the discussion, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya suggested Prime Minister Modi extend the lockdown on May 3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's video conferencing on the Coronavirus has not included Kerala Chief Minister P. Vijayan. ANI quoted sources as saying that Kerala has given its suggestions in writing. 

The CM of Uttarakhand said that tourism and pilgrims have been greatly affected by the lockdown. With the intervention of PM, we will soon be able to revive our industry and economy. Trade and business activities should begin in a phase-wise manner, with a focus on all precautionary measures. We have to make people's lives easier to gradually normalize the situation. The Chief Minister of Mizoram talked about how the Centre's instructions would be followed after the lockdown. 

Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy called for the intervention of the Center to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other medical equipment for the state's health warriors. He expressed his desire to start the industry when the lockdown ended on May 3 and sought financial support from the Government of India to fight Kovid-19.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said he was in favor of continuing the lockdown, but added that it was important that economic activities be allowed. Patnaik said, "I request the central government to initiate measures for the economy as we are working together to curb the disease."

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday evening, the number of corona patients in the country has increased to 26917. Meanwhile, 5914 people have been released from the hospital. The government claims that the percentage of recovery of corona patients is also increasing continuously and it has increased to 21.90 percent. The remaining 20177 people are being treated in various hospitals of the country. On the other hand, the Cabinet Secretary also talked to the Chief Secretaries of the States and the Director General of Police through video conferencing. He said that states which have more cases should ensure strict adherence to lockdown and strengthen medical services.
