As part of the Government's efforts to maintain a high level of countrywide testing, a total of 12,65,42,907 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Monday, bringing down the cumulative positivity to 7.01 per cent.
According to an official release, the active Covid caseload stood at 4,53,401, comprising just 5.11 per cent of all cumulative cases. Altogether 449 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,30,519.
There were 82,90,370 total recovered cases as the recovery rate improved to 93.42 per cent with 72.87 per cent of the recovered cases reported in the past 24 hours from 10 states/UTs.
Kerala saw the greatest number of recoveries as 6,567 confirmed cases tested negative followed by West Bengal with 4,376 daily recoveries while Delhi reported 3,560 recoveries.
However, as many as 75.14 per cent of the new cases were reported from 10 states/UTs.
Delhi, which saw a surge in new cases over the past few days, reported only 3,797 new cases on Monday, followed by West Bengal which reported 3,012 new cases. Kerala recorded 2,710 new cases.
Similarly, 78.40 per cent of the 449 new deaths were concentrated in 10 states/UTs.
Delhi again accounted for more than a fifth -- 22.76 per cent of the new fatalities -- reporting 99 deaths while Maharashtra reported 60 deaths and West Bengal 53.
