Government oil marketing companies on Saturday increased petrol and diesel prices for the fourth consecutive day. In the four major metros of the country, both fuel prices have increased by 24 to 27 paise per liter today.


Diesel prices increased by 25 paise in Delhi today. After August, the price of diesel had again crossed Rs 73 per liter on December 4. Petrol price has increased by 27 paise per liter. The prices of both fuels today were Rs 83.13 and diesel Rs 73.32 per liter respectively.


Oil marketing companies have increased the price of petrol by more than Rs 2 per liter in 13 times during the last fortnight. Diesel has also become expensive by about three rupees.


Petrol in the commercial city of Mumbai rose by 26 paise to Rs 89.78 per liter and diesel by 27 paise to Rs 79.93 per liter. In Kolkata, the price of petrol has increased by 26 paise to Rs 84.63 per liter and the price of diesel has increased by 25 paise to Rs 76.89 per liter. Petrol-diesel prices have also increased in Chennai. Petrol prices increased by 24 paise to Rs 86 per liter and diesel prices increased by 25 paise to Rs 78.69 per liter.
