Naidu asks Govt to consider waiving off cancellation fee for train, air tickets

Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiyah Naidu on Monday asked the Government for waiver of cancellation fee on the confirmed Railway and air tickets in view of Coronavirus.

Raising the issue, the Communist Party of India (CPM) Member Elamaram Kareem said that the deadly virus COVID-19 has affected the life of the people across the country and most of the people have been avoiding travels as advised by the Government.

“The passengers are getting their ticket cancelled as all tourists places, pilgrimages, schools, colleges and other educational institutes have been closed as precautionary measures”, Mr Kareem said.

He urged the Government to waive the cancellation charge upon which Mr Naidu asked the leader of the House Thawarchand Gehlot to raise this issue with the Government and to consider the suggestions of the Member.

Many Members of the Opposition got them associated with the issue.
