The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah,
said that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process will be carried out
across India without any discrimination on the basis of religion. Shah was
speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
“The NRC would be carried out across the country but
nobody, irrespective of their religions, need to worry about it. This is just a
process to get everyone under the NRC,” Shah, while, replying a supplementary
question during the Question Hour in the Upper House. In fact, there is any
such provision in the NRC that may exclude any body belonging to any particular
religion.
He said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is fully
normal and restrictions have been lifted in all the 195 police stations’ areas.
In a response to another supplementary question in the
Rajya Sabha, the Home Minister, said the decision on restoring internet
services will be taken at an appropriate time as per the recommendation of the
Jammu and Kashmir authorities and taking into account the security situation in
the region.
“There has not been a single death due to police firing
after the scrapping of Article 370 and bifurcation of the state. He said the
incidents of stone-pelting have also come down in the valley”, the Home
Minister added.
He stressed that local administration has taken care of
health services and the availability of medicines is adequate.
“Necessary articles and household amenities are available
in adequacy”, he said.
