Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday accused the Indian government of making a "fundamental error" by allegedly supporting criminal activities on Canadian soil.

During a press conference in Ottawa, Trudeau addressed the escalating tensions between Canada and India, emphasizing the importance of an upcoming meeting between their national security advisors, set to take place this weekend in Singapore.

"When I spoke with Prime Minister Modi late last week, I stressed how critical the meeting between our national security advisors in Singapore this weekend would be. He acknowledged the importance of that meeting, and I insisted that it be taken very, very seriously," Trudeau stated.

Canadian ministers Dominic LeBlanc, responsible for Public Safety and Intergovernmental Affairs, and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly were also present at the briefing.

Trudeau went on to assert that the Indian government had made a serious miscalculation by allegedly supporting criminal activities targeting Canadians. "The Indian government made a fundamental error in believing they could support criminal activities against Canadians, whether it be murder or extortion, on Canadian soil. This is completely unacceptable," Trudeau claimed.

Despite the tensions, Trudeau reaffirmed Canada's commitment to working with India
