Senior
security officials at the Line of Control (LoC) said, “The sudden firing by the
Pakistani troops started at around 10: 15 am and the firing spree was continued
till they get proper reply by the Indian Army”.
There is no doubt that our brave army personnel
have given a befitting reply to the Pakistani troops, Army spokesperson said in
Balakote sector. “No casualty was reported from either side”, the spokesperson
added. A Defense spokesperson said, the Pakistani troops opened fire on forward
posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir
on Monday. What they did is the gross violation of the ceasefire agreement, the
spokesperson added.
“It all happened at around 10: 15 am, when the personnel of Indian Army were guarding the LoC in the Balakote sector. The Indian Army, however replied them strongly and forced them back, he said. The Army officer said, the cross-border firing between the two sides was going on when last reports were received. Officials said Pakistan Army personnel also fired mortar shells targeting Tarkundi village, causing panic among residents. On Sunday, Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling in Mankote, Shahpur, Kirni and Krishna Ghati sectors.
