India beat Australia in 100th Test to level 1-1 in series

With a strong performance from their bowlers, India beat Australia by eight wickets on Tuesday, on the fourth day of the second Boxing Day Test, to level 1-1 in the four-match series. India bundled Australia out for 200 in the second innings and achieved the target of 70 runs for the loss by losing two wickets. This was the 100th Test between the two countries in which India won.

India thus won a memorable victory under Ajinkya Rahane's captaincy. In the first day night Test in Adelaide, India bounced back after losing their lowest total of 36 runs and losing by eight wickets in the second innings and reversed all equations and won a memorable victory. India won the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne by 137 runs in the last Australian tour in 2018-19 and this time also made Melbourne their most successful ground on overseas ground by waving the victory in the Boxing Day Test.

Rahane, who took over as captain after regular captain Virat Kohli returned home, retained control of the game all four days of the match and won his third consecutive Test under his captaincy. Rahane had earlier defeated Australia in Dharamsala by eight wickets in 2016-17 and Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs in Bengaluru. Rahane was declared man of the match for his brilliant century in the first innings.
