Himachal Pradesh received thunderstorm, rain and snowfall on Saturday.


While tourist resorts Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda continue to receive snowfall, Shimla and nearby areas including Solan, Sirmaur and Bilaspur district witnessed icy cold and intermittent rain.


According to police sources, vehicular traffic was disrupted at Kufri and Fagu as the roads at Kufri and Narkanda were covered with five to ten cm snow.


Lahaul-Spiti district's Sissu area continued to receive snowfall. The depth of fresh snow is about five cm (two inch). The snow depth towards the South Portal (toward Manali) is about ten cm (four inches).


The police said that in all weather ATR could facilitate only four by four wheels emergency vehicles as it is extremely slippery and risky to approach upto the Atal tunnel.


The Kinnuar district's high reach experienced heavy snowfall since overnight and district administration announced advisory to tourists and local people asking them not to climb in high altitude places.


Owing to bad weather, the state government has deployed snowcutters and emergency vehicles and evacuation of people in case of closing down of road and highways due to snowfall.


Yellow alert was made in the state for Saturday.
