Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet against M Sivasankar, former Principal Secretary to Kerala Chief Minister, in Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court here in connection with the gold smuggling case in order to deny bail to him.
Sources said on Saturday that Sivasankar was arrested on October 28 and will be eligible for default bail after 60 days.
Another chargesheet will be filed by the ED before December 24, the sources added.
ED sleuths plans to interrogate Swapna Suresh and Sarith in the gold smuggling case as soon as the court grants permission.
The details from the interrogation will also be included in the chargesheet against Sivasankar.
The ED officials said it learnt about the involvement of Sivasankar and other high-profile persons in
the case based on the response of a bureaucrat during interrogation by Customs department officials.
It is necessary to question Swapna and Sarith in the light of the revelations, ED officials said.
