The Election Commission on Monday appointed Sushil Chandra, one of the election commissioners, as it's nominee to the proposed Delimitation Commission for Jammu and Kashmir.
"Consequent upon the request of Ministry of Legislative Affairs concerning Delimitation Commission, Chief Election Commissioner has nominated Sushil Chandra as his nominee to the proposed delimitation commission for Jammu and Kashmir", the Commission spokesperson said.
Earlier in the day, the government has proposed for a delimitation commission to decide assembly constituencies for the newly-formed union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to media reports, the delimitation commission will be headed by a former Supreme Court judge while one member each from Jammu and Kashmir administration and Election Commission will also be a part of the panel.
