The decision on the fitness of opener Rohit Sharma will be taken after his next fitness test on 11 December, while fast bowler Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the four-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
In a statement issued on Thursday night, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), giving the latest information on Rohit and Ishant's fitness, said that Rohit is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and his next assessment It will be done on 11 December, after which the BCCI will take a decision on Rohit's participation in the four-Test series starting on 17 December.
Jai Shah told that Rohit had come to Mumbai to see his ailing father after making his team Mumbai Indians champions for the fifth time in the IPL. His father's condition is improving, allowing him to travel to NCA and start his rehabilitation.
The BCCI said that as far as Ishant is concerned, he has fully recovered from his rib stretch but Ishant has been out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy until he regained Test match fitness.
