COVID-19 cases in UP crosses three-digit mark

The number of Covid-19 patients in Uttar Pradesh touched the three-digit mark on Tuesday after five members of a family in Bareilly were tested positive for the virus.


The total number of cases in the state has jumped from 96 on Monday night to 101 this morning, a report said.


A report from Bareilly quoted district Surveillance officer Dr Ranjan Gautam saying that a youth working in a company in Noida was first found positive for the virus on Sunday last after he visited his native place on March 21.


On late Monday night his wife, mother-father along with brother and sister were also detected positive, he added.


The official said that all the patients are kept in the isolation ward of a hospital while the entire area where they were staying along with that of their relatives' were being checked. The area has been sanitised while other precautionary measures are being taken.


Meanwhile, after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's order, the Gautam Buddha Nagar authorities sealed a company in Noida after 16 people associated with it were found positive for the deadly virus.


Department of Health has registered an FIR against the authorities of the company.


The company had called an auditor from abroad in March, who was later found positive for the virus by then it had spread among the employees," said a senior official.


The official further informed that senior IAS officer Narendra Bhooshan, the CEO of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has been appointed the Officer In-charge for Gautam Budh Nagar for the efforts concerning COVID-19 pandemic.
