Union
Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, has emphasized on building up of
a strong cooperative sector across the nation. He said that the leaders of the
co-operative sector should think over how they could lay more emphasis on
strengthening and empowering this sector by self-regulatory mechanism.
“This
is the responsibility of all– not to bring a bad name for the co-operative
sector”, Goyal said, while addressing the closing ceremony of India
International Cooperatives Trade Fair in New Delhi on Monday.
He
added that there was a need to think about the small cooperatives as a large
section of tribal and rural people. “They (tribal people) are in the business
of encouraging cooperative sectors. Still they are yet to get appropriate
opportunities to take out their art and products”, Goyal said.
