UP Police has recovered several foreign- made goods and thousands of cartridges from the Delhi-based house of Abbas Ansari, son of Bahubali MLA Mukhtar Ansari . The team of Delhi Police along with Lucknow Police was also involved in the raid. The police brought all of them to Lucknow on Thursday.
SSP Kalanithi Naithani said on Thursday that on October 12, a fraudulent FIR was registered against Mukhtar Ansari's son Abbas Ansari in the Mahanagar Kotwali in the arms license case. During the investigation, the police came to know that Abbas's location is in Delhi. Our team reached Delhi and also sought help from Delhi Police. Police came to know of the rented house at Basantkunj in Abbas Ansari. The police raided here on the basis of search warrant.
According to sources, the STF had been investigating arms licenses issued in the name of Mukhtar and his close relatives for several months. Investigation revealed that a double barrel gun was purchased on Abbas' license at Lucknow address.
This license was transferred to Delhi's address without the permission of the police, DM. 5 more were purchased after the license was transferred. Actually both Delhi and UP were being used. Inspector Mahanagar Ashok Singh said that Abbas was not found at home.
In the raid, the police team received from Italy's double barrel gun from Abbas' house, single barrel gun sourced from Slovenia, Magnum rifle from South Cataphil purchased from Lucknow, double barrel gun purchased from Delhi, US Mech revolver purchased from Meerut, Slovenia. The rifle imported from, seven different bore barrels, three Austrian pistol barrels, two Austrian magazines, one loader and 4,331 separate bore cartridges were found.
