In an interview to an English newspaper, Tata Steel's Global CEO cum Managing Director TV Narendran has categorically denied employees' wages or job cuts following production cuts. MD said that right now the focus of the company is to increase and develop the productivity of the presently existing workforce (employee or officer). A long term plan will be prepared on this as soon as the situation is right.

The MD said in response to a question that the current state of the epidemic. Without damaging the economy in India, it can be relaxed in lockdown without compromising on health or life. Asked what the situation would be if the lockdown was lifted and how the market demand would be, the MD said that there was little hope that the lockdown would be lifted completely, as the situation has not fully normalized yet. It may take at least six months to a year for the situation to become normal. However, this will determine how we are fighting the epidemic like corona virus.
