Active Covid caseload drops to 3.63 lakh after 146 days; less than 30,000 new cases recorded

India’s total active Covid-19 caseload saw a significant drop to 3,63,749 on Friday, the lowest after 146 days.
The total active cases were 3,58,692 on July 18, 2020.
While there were 29,398 new cases in the past 24 hours, 414 case deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, an official release here said.
The country, however, reported a trend of sustained decrease in the number of active cases. India’s present active caseload consists of just 3.71 per cent of its total positive cases.
There were 37,528 recoveries in the past 24 hours -- resulting in a net decline of 8,544 from the total active caseload.
India registered less than 30,000 daily new cases in the past 24 hours.
The total recovered cases are nearing 93 lakh and the gap between recovered and active cases crossed 89 lakh today, improving the recovery rate to 94.84 per cent.
Altogether, 79.90 per cent of the new recovered cases were concentrated in 10 states/UTs. Karnataka reported the maximum single-day recoveries with 5,076 newly recovered cases, followed by Maharashtra and Kerala with 5,068 and 4,847 recoveries respectively.
Going by average daily recovered cases in the past week, Maharashtra had maximum average daily recovered cases with 6,703 persons followed by Kerala and Delhi with 5,173 and 4,362 cases, respectively.
However, 72.39 per cent of the new cases were concentrated in 10 states and UTs. Kerala reported the highest daily new cases at 4,470 followed by Maharashtra with 3,824 new cases.
Ten states/UTs accounted for a whopping 79.95 per cent of the 414 case deaths reported in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (70). Delhi and West Bengal followed with 61 and 49 daily deaths, respectively.
