Among other major development in the
renewable energy sector of the country, the Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL)
has on May 182021 declared the company’s absolute achievement of SB Energy in a
deal of worth Rs. 24000 crore.
With the SB energy’s last discussions took
momentum during the last fortnight, the widespread differences in assessments
of the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) caused its failure. The
AGEL purchased the shares of both Masayoshi Son-led SoftBank Group and Bharti
Group that were almost 80% and 20% in SB Energy respectively. The company would
find a fund worth 4954 MW of solar, wind & solar-wind joint venture
projects in the deal concerned. While some of these are in the pipeline, about
1400 MW of these projects are operational. When we see the incumbent agenda as
well as the modus operandi of the of the AGEL, we find that most of its
projects have a 25-year power purchase agreement. After these achievements,
AGEL’s capability turned inflatable to 24300 MW, comprising 4500 MW worth of
solar projects. As per the officials, letter of awards are awaited for this
project, almost 700 MW shy of its 25000 MW fixed by 2025.
Speaking to the media, Gautam Adani said,
"This achievement is the vital step towards our old dream that we had seen
during the month of January 2020. While, we have chalked out the relevant plans
to become the largest solar player of the world, our next plan is to become the
largest renewable company of the world by 2030”. He added, “When SBG carries
forward our transition to a worldwide investment holding company concentrated
on increasing the employment of artificial intelligence. We may believe that
this is the perfect time to get in the Adani Group to assist drive another
phase of SB Energy and the growth of India”. “We are delighted that Bharti
could play a creative role in partnership with SoftBank”, said Sunil Mittal,
the Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, who individually carried the negotiations
with Gautam Adani in this connections.
