A provision of seven years' punishment has been made for forcible conversion in Himachal Pradesh. Notification for this has been issued.

It is noteworthy that in the last monsoon session of the assembly, the state government passed the said Himachal Pradesh Bill of Freedom of Religion Act-2019 and sent it to the Governor for approval. Now the State Governor has approved the Himachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act-2019 Bill. Under the provisions of this law, the punishment will now be from three months to seven years. There are different provisions for different classes and castes.

It is known that before this, the 2006 Act had a sentence of two years. Now there is a provision of punishment of up to seven years in case of conversion of women, minor and scheduled caste and scheduled tribe.

Further in the Bill, conversion will be prohibited through seduction, seduction or any other way. If a person returns to his original religion, he will not be considered a convert.
