The COVID-19 contagion tally of the country surged past 3.5 lakh on Wednesday after recording 10,974 fresh infections in the past 24 hours. The confirmed cases at present stand at 3,54,065, while a sharp surge of 2003 deaths have been reported since Tuesday, taking the fatalities to 11,903.
However, the number of contagion survivors continued to show further improvement.
As per the government data, cured and discharged cases have increased to 1,86,935 pan India, while active cases currently stand at 1,55,227.
The difference between recovered and active cases has shifted towards the recoveries, on a positive side to 31,708, which indicates betterment in the rate of recovery in the country.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the second leg of meeting with the chief ministers of the states through video conferencing today to review the COVID situation.
On Tuesday, the PM had the first leg of meeting in which 21 CMs of different states discussed with him the present contagion scenario in their respective states as well as the country and ways forward to deal with the pandemic.
